Bombshell ACORN legal memo confirms depths of legal troubles

Matthew Vadum, who has performed yeoman's work on the sordid gang called ACORN, today revealed a bombshell memo written by ACORN's lawyers little more than 15 months ago. The attorneys instructed ACORN to begin cleaning up its massive mess or "face certain catastrophe". What did ACORN do instead?

It chose to do nothing.

The advice from Elizabeth Kingsley of Harmon, Curran, Spielberg Eisenberg LLP came in the form of an eerily prophetic legal memo to ACORN dated June 19, 2008, the day before ACORN’s national board fired disgraced founder Wade Rathke.

The memo is a kind of Holy Grail for ACORN researchers. One source of mine keeps a copy in a safety deposit box. I’ve lost track of how many people have asked me over the last year if I knew how to get ahold of it. One source told me that there are many people who would “kill” to gain possession of it. This is a bit of an exaggeration perhaps, but not much.

Having read this categorically damning memo, I now understand what all the fuss is about.

Remember the good ol' days of '07, when freedom of speech and criticism of the president were condoned by the left?

• Writing in the unhinged Huffington Post, author Martin Lewis suggested that General Peter Pace stage a military Coup D'état and overthrow the "regime" of President Bush.

• Over at Daily Kos, a diarist offered that "George W. Bush's Property Should Be Seized." Once more sensible folks became widely aware of this embarrassing secretion, Kos or his editors later purged the entry.

• Also at Kos, diarist Randian suggested that no one gave Marxism enough of a chance. "While mainstream Democrats may seek to abstain from ever mentioning the name of Marx, out of fear of appearing 'too far to the left,' Marx’s thinking remains very useful for all those dedicated to progressive causes." (Never mind the 94 million dead, according to the Harvard University Press' Black Book of Communism. Never mind the catastrophic economic consequences. Democrats should quietly pursue the Marxist agenda... because, apparently, we haven't given it quite enough time. Not that President Obama isn't trying his best, mind you.).

Hey! I wonder what changed since 2007? You know, when dissent was patriotic?

Gore's latest invention promises to cork animal toots' greenhouse gases

Australia's The Age reports upon an underrated danger of overfeeding your pets.

"It's... important not to overfeed your pet because it causes flatulence... Giving them the right amount not only saves you from nasty smells but saves the planet by avoiding the release of dangerous greenhouse gases."

This follows reports from the U.K. that members of Parliament have asked the European Commission to examine, "the livestock question in direct connection with global warming":

The official EU declaration demands changes to animals’ diets, to capture gas emissions and recycle manure... They warned: "The livestock sector presents the greatest threat to the planet."

Al Gore's new invention -- the Cow-Cork™ -- promises to help address the problem. The Cow-Cork can absorb an entire day's worth of cow emissions in a compact, cost-effective form-factor.

Not all environmentalists are pleased with Gore's innovation, however. The splinter group called People Against the Sickening Subjugation of Germs, Animals, and Stones (or PASSGAS, for short) are protesting the plan. They claim that the act of capturing and harnessing innocent animals' air biscuits is "a fundamental violation of their rights".

PASS-GAS spokesperson Flower Moonbeam stated that, "these animals don't launch 'trouser trumpets' voluntarily. They may rattle a few windows from time to time and sound a 'cheek flapper' on occasion. But let's be fair. They're not inside the house blasting 'floorboard lifters' or sealing the car windows in pursuit of a 'rolling Dutch Oven' like my older brother used to do.
