Well, this certainly looks like a lovely home.
Called Beechwoods, the 98-year-old stucco Colonial sits on more than an acre and has views of nearby Soapstone Valley National Park. Highlights include a family room with cathedral ceiling, a library, a movie theater, a recreation room, and an exercise room. The remodeled kitchen has granite countertops, a skylight, a SubZero refrigerator/freezer, and double Wolf ovens. Outside is a pool, a cabana, a shared tennis court, and a four-car garage.
The seller? One Franklin Raines, former head of Fannie Mae and current adviser (on housing policy) to the Obama campaign.
Raines pulled down a paltry $90 million in compensation while accounting fraud ran rampant at Fannie. Coincidentally, I'm sure, the cooked books triggered bonuses to Raines and other key Democratic operatives who controlled the GSE.
